IMPACT REPORT

Since 1986, NeighborWorks Lincoln (NWL) has been a local leader in community development efforts, and the preeminent facilitator of affordable homeownership opportunities for low- and middle-income families in Lincoln. Three primary program areas work in tandem with one-another to center neighbors and advance neighborhoods in support of a healthier and more equitable city.

  1. Community Building and Engagement
Cultivates neighborhood capacity to help improve quality of life for Lincoln residents through appreciative inquiry and an asset-based community development methodology. NWL engages residents in environmental improvement projects, neighborhood events, advocacy, and leadership development. Diverse residents and cultural communities are connected with resources and networks that enhance identity by building upon strengths and cultivating authentic connection.

  2. Homeownership
Prepares first-time homebuyers through a federally certified pre-purchase course and accompanying financial counseling. Most clients qualify for a zero-interest (payment-free) assistance loan that covers down payment and closing costs, and also funds a rehabilitation scope. Income guidelines for qualifying participants depend on the source of funding, but currently average 64% of Area Median Income (AMI).

  3. Real Estate Development
Increases the supply of safe, quality, and affordable housing and advances neighborhoods through strengthened housing stock. Real estate activities include new construction, owner-occupied rehabilitation, and a workforce acquisition-rehabilitation program.
