Homeownership Program

Due to COVID-19 there will be no in-person, face-to-face classes for the foreseeable future. However, we are still accepting applications for the program and are offering the education online. Access to a computer and internet is required. If you would like more information, please apply for the program online. Once social distancing guidelines are lifted, we will return to a normal, in-person class structure and will invite individuals in the order that they applied.

Are you considering buying a home? Our Homeownership Program can help you decide whether home ownership is right for you. If you’re ready for the next steps, we’ll guide you through the process by providing education and an assistance loan for down-payment, closing costs and rehabilitation to qualifying individuals. Our program begins with four (4) informative classes where the details of the home buying process and our program are explained by certified instructors.

Steps in the Process

The first step is to apply for the program. If you are approved, you will be invited to take the home buyer classes. (Please note: even if you do not qualify for the down payment assistance, you can still attend the classes.) After you complete the classes, you will meet with our Homeownership Coordinator to obtain approval for an assistance loan. Afterward, you will meet with the lender for your first mortgage loan pre-approval. Finally, find a good Realtor to help you find your new home.
