Homeownership Program

The Homebuyer Education program has been slightly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic; however, we are still accepting applications for the program. Please complete your application online or contact our Homeownership Coordinator, Bill, if you would like a paper application mailed to you. You can contact Bill at 402-477-7181 x 103 or billp@nwlincoln.org. March classes have been canceled. April classes are to be determined. Once large gatherings are once again allowed, we have plans of how we can accommodate as many people as possible who have been waiting to take the classes. We will release more information once we reach that point.

Are you considering buying a home? Our Homeownership Program can help you decide whether home ownership is right for you. If you’re ready for the next steps, we’ll guide you through the process by providing education and an assistance loan for down-payment, closing costs and rehabilitation to qualifying individuals. Our program begins with four (4) informative classes where the details of the home buying process and our program are explained by certified instructors.

Steps in the Process

The first step is to apply for the program. If you are approved, you will be invited to take the home buyer classes. (Please note: even if you do not qualify for the down payment assistance, you can still attend the classes.) After you complete the classes, you will meet with our Homeownership Coordinator to obtain approval for an assistance loan. Afterward, you will meet with the lender for your first mortgage loan pre-approval. Finally, find a good Realtor to help you find your new home.
