NeighborWorks Policy Network
There are numerous challenges facing Lincoln's older neighborhoods, the solutions of which might extend beyond the ability of a few individual residents to solve. Often times the roadblocks to solutions are found in regulations, laws and enforcement. Lincoln Policy Network examines issues that are causing problems in neighborhoods or limiting the implementation of an effective solution. The Network is comprised of neighborhood residents from all of the Heart of Lincoln neighborhoods, business interests, landlords, and representatives from the City that have an interest in finding solutions. The goal of the Network is to identify problems, formulate solutions, and implement plans to change the roadblocks that are at either a City, County or State level through new legislation or the modification of an existing law or ordinance.
Top neighborhood issues that have currently been identified by the group are proactive code enforcement, rental licensing, problem properties/landlords, mandatory trash service, more responsive weed control, and City wide graffiti abatement.
