NeighborWorks Lincoln Receives $10,000 From NeighborWorks America to Market Clinton

07.30.14

LINCOLN– Today NeighborWorks Lincoln announced the organization received $10,000 in grants, expert consulting services, and marketing tools and assistance from NeighborWorks America to further its work attracting new sustainable homeowners and building vibrant communities. This award is part of a new collaborative effort to develop a marketing campaign for Clinton. The goal of the campaign is to highlight the neighborhood’s unique assets, grow the sense of community pride, and encourage more people to buy homes, open businesses, and invest in the neighborhood.

Clinton was one of 17 communities across the country selected by NeighborWorks America to participate in the second round of the Neighborhood Marketing Program. Under the program, NeighborWorks Lincoln will receive guidance from an expert marketing consultant and work alongside residents and community stakeholders to enhance and promote the neighborhood’s brand.

“We are excited about marketing Clinton as we have been working with residents and investing in the neighborhood for many years. Clinton is an example of an older, overlooked community where people have resided for years because of its many assets, including the North 27th Street business corridor, access to bike trails and good schools, and its proximity to downtown and both university campuses. We are excited to create a new platform to illustrate the many diverse options Lincoln offers for people to live,” Shawn Ryba, Chief Operating Officer.

By focusing attention on what makes the neighborhood a great place to live, work and visit, the marketing campaign will lead to more positive perceptions and make the neighborhood more competitive in the regional marketplace.

“Reputation is extremely important for a community to attract housing and business investment,” said Ascala Sisk, Director, Community Stabilization at NeighborWorks America. “Marketing in this case isn’t about spin – it’s about telling the real story of a neighborhood in a way that resonates in a positive way.”

NeighborWorks America launched the Neighborhood Marketing Program in 2012 and is working with 32 organizations to create strong neighborhood brands and rebuild market demand. In developing the marketing campaign, NeighborWorks Lincoln will learn from successful strategies implemented by other organizations that are participating in the Neighborhood Marketing Program.
