Homeownership Program

Update on the impact of COVID-19 to NeighborWorks Lincoln programming:

NeighborWorks Lincoln has resumed in-person classes for the Homeownership Program. Unvaccinated individuals will be required to wear masks or a facial covering while participating in face-to-face group education.

Are you considering buying a home? Our Homeownership Program can help you decide whether home ownership is right for you. If you’re ready for the next steps, we’ll guide you through the process by providing education and an assistance loan for down-payment, closing costs and rehabilitation to qualifying individuals.

Steps in the Process

The first step is to apply for the program. It typically takes 2-4 business days for your application to be processed. If you are approved, you will be invited to take the home buyer classes. (Please note: even if you do not qualify for the down payment assistance, you can still attend the classes.) After you complete the classes, you will meet with our Homeownership Coordinator to obtain approval for an assistance loan. Afterward, you will meet with the lender for your first mortgage loan pre-approval. Finally, find a good Realtor to help you find your new home.
