Housing Construction and Repair
NeighborWorks® Lincoln is committed to raising the quality of affordable housing in Lincoln and creating safe neighborhoods. Our housing construction and repair program engages homeowners, private contractors, and community volunteers in activities that improve existing housing in our oldest neighborhoods. This revitalization work results in increased homeownership rates, decreased crime, rising property values, growing tax revenues and safer neighborhoods for children and families.
Through our construction and repair program, over $400,000 is re-invested in Lincoln's neighborhoods each year.
Special Programs and Activities
- Rehab with Purchase
Last year, 34 existing homes were "rehabbed with purchase" for NeighborWorks®Lincoln homebuyers. The total amount invested in improving these properties was $191,153, an average of $5,600 per property.
- Troubled Properties
Each year we purchase a limited number of rundown or "troubled properties" for repair or replacement in high impact areas. This removes neighborhood blight while spurring property improvement.
